What We Believe

It’s all about Jesus!

The short answer

At St Mark’s UNEchurch, we’re all about Jesus!

Jesus is God’s son, the Saviour of the world, easily the most impressive person you’ll ever meet and a man worth trusting and following. Jesus is revealed to us in the pages of God’s written Word, the Bible.

The slightly longer answer

We’re a Bible-believing church, sitting under the authority of God’s inerrant and sufficient word.
We joyfully affirm that the Apostles Creed is a wonderful and true summary of the core of the Christian faith:

  1. We believe in God, the creator and sustainer of all that exists, both in heaven and on earth.
  2. We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. After three days he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. One day, he will come back to judge everyone – the living AND the dead.
  3. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the fellowship of God’s people (the saints), the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
We’re a church whose theology is in the historic reformed Anglican tradition.

Our mission

We’re here to help people find and follow Jesus.

Our ‘Five C’ core mission fields are:

  • our Children (kids and youth),
  • our Campus (UNE),
  • our City (every corner of Armidale),
  • Country Australia (primarily the New England region)
  • Cross-culturally (around Armidale, and the world)

Our prayer

Our prayer is that 3000 people in the Armidale region would find and follow Jesus.

It’s a bold prayer, but we pray it asking God to be at work through us, and through all the other churches of the region, so that thousands of people will be forgiven and free in Jesus.
